Sensitivity of productivity to precipitation amount and pattern varies by topographic position in a semiarid grassland

چکیده
Aboveground net primary productivity (ANPP) in grasslands is an important integrator of terrestrial ecosystem function, a key driver global biogeochemical cycles, and critical source food for wild domesticated herbivores. ANPP exhibits high spatial temporal variability, driven by suite factors including precipitation amount pattern, biotic abiotic legacies, topographic heterogeneity. Global climate models forecast altered hydrological cycle due to change, higher variability more extreme events, which may further increase spatiotemporal ANPP. Therefore, it essential understand the sensitivity this central function various metrics, positions better inform sustainable grassland management. In study, we analyzed long-term (36-yr) data collected across sequence semiarid shortgrass steppe North America examine patterns drivers We observed that (1) varied substantially position, with greater divergence during years production, (2) was temporally (16-fold maximum difference years) than spatially (4-fold positions), (3) warm-season perennial grasses were dominant plant functional type all strongly influenced total dynamics, (4) had strong sensitivities current year pattern type, as well weaker legacies. Overall, lowest position highest precipitation, likely resource availability via downhill movement water nutrients large rainfall events. These results suggest primarily combined effects year, governing these responses.

Asymmetric responses of primary productivity to precipitation extremes: A synthesis of grassland precipitation manipulation experiments.
Climatic changes are altering Earth's hydrological cycle, resulting in altered precipitation amounts, increased interannual variability of precipitation, and more frequent extreme precipitation events. These trends will likely continue into the future, having substantial impacts on net primary productivity (NPP) and associated ecosystem services such as food production and carbon sequestration....
متن کاملSpatial relationships between leaf area index and topographic factors in a semiarid grassland: Joint multifractal analysis
A considerable portion of Canada’s landmass is covered by grassland ecosystems. Insight into the grassland spatial heterogeneity will not only contribute to better understanding of the scale dependent ecological processes but will also help in management and monitoring. Leaf area index (LAI) is a key structural attribute of grassland that reflects primary production. It is well-known that topog...

15 صفحه اولa frame semantic approach to the study of translating cultural scripts in salingers franny and zooey
the frame semantic theory is a nascent approach in the area of translation studies which goes beyond the linguistic barriers and helps us to incorporate cognitive and cultural factors to the study of translation. based on rojos analytical model (2002b), which centered in the frames or knowledge structures activated in the text, the present research explores the various translation problems that...
